Coolsculpting After Care
If you have considered getting the CoolSculpting procedure to eliminate some of your fat deposits and tone your body into a sleeker and slimmer you, then you've probably started to wonder about aftercare. What is it going to be like after the procedure and what are you going to need to remember to take care of yourself? Here are a few of the body sculpting aftercare items to remember.
Medications for Your Aftercare Period
You are going to want to remember that due to the soreness, you are able to take ibuprofen or motrin. Usually your doctor will allow 800mg of ibuprofen every six hours as needed for that discomfort. However, be careful with the amount of acetaminophen, or Tylenol. If you are given something stronger such as Vicodin (or hydrocodone) or Percocet (or oxycodone) you must watch your Tylenol intake. Vicodin and Percocet already have acetaminophen in them, and taking additional Tylenol may reach toxic levels.
Directly After the Procedure
Other than some soreness, you may have some stiffness. Your skin may even be sensitive to the touch following the procedure. This is normal and is only temporary. There can be aching and tenderness for a few days after the procedure, but it is much less than what would be felt after a traditional liposuction technique. This, however doesn’t limit any of your activity.
Exercise Following the Procedure
While you may not want to do strenuous exercise right after your CoolSculpting procedure, you can stretch and have massage work done. In fact massaging and stretch of the area that was worked on is encouraged over the first two weeks following the procedure. Doing this for ten minutes at a time,
three times a day, can help the body work through the breakdown of fat cells.
Expect Results Throughout the Months
The procedure will take away nearly 20-25 percent of the body's fatty layer each time the CoolSculpting procedure is done. It will take the body approximately 90 days, or three months, to breakdown those fat cells and remove them from the body. Although you will see changes the first day, your final
results will not be completely noticeable until three months have past, giving your body plenty of time to breakdown the cells, and remove them through your body's waste system. This is a slow, but highly effective, process. Don't expect overnight results and don't feel down that the procedure "didn't work" if you don't have the results you wanted in a week's time.
There are only a few lifestyle changes that you may want to consider following the CoolSculpting procedure. You don't want to increase the calories you normally intake, nor do you want to smoke. If you smoke, stop prior to the procedure. You also want to increase the fluid intake that you normally have.
Add more water to your diet, especially during the first two days following the CoolSculpting procedure, as that is the best way to help your body get the damaged fat cells out of your system. Adding water will help you flush out the system quicker and more effectively. Eating water-rich foods is also a good idea.
Keep in mind that the goals you have for yourself, you may need at least two Coolsculpting procedures
to get started. If this is true, then you will have them done two months apart. You'll be instructed to go about your normal daily routines as long as it is tolerable. Listen to your body and rest when it wants to rest and stop when it is telling you to stop. Take into account all of the items in this list to get the best results possible for your Cool Sculpting procedure. The final results will take about 3 months.
