What Happens to Skin After CoolSculpting Removes Fat?
CoolSculpting has no effect on overlying skin; it is designed to reduce fat and not the top layer of skin which is the location of most of the elasticity of the skin. The treated fat bulge will reduce but since the fat is slowly dissipated, if you have good skin elasticity the skin should contract, unless it is already a problem. If skin laxity is a primary problem, other procedures may be a better option.
Patient selection is important; each situation varies from person to person and the area of the body to be treated. Miguel Delgado, M.D. evaluates each patient to discuss all options so that the patient can anticipate the probable outcome.
